The cost of tile installation varies significantly based on the scope of the project, the materials chosen, and the condition of the existing substrate. A simple backsplash will cost less than a fully waterproofed custom shower or a large-format porcelain floor. We provide transparent, detailed quotes after an initial consultation so you know exactly what to expect before work begins.
A standard kitchen backsplash might take 2 to 3 days, while a complete custom shower or large floor installation can take 5 to 7 days or more. Proper installation requires specific curing times for leveling compounds, waterproofing membranes, thinset, and grout. We never rush these critical steps, as doing so compromises the structural integrity of the installation.
Yes. While some contractors offer to install “tile over tile” to save time, we strongly advise against it. Installing over old tile adds unnecessary weight, creates height transition issues at doorways, and builds upon a foundation that may already be failing. We always remove the existing flooring to inspect and properly prepare the subfloor.
Both are clay-based, but porcelain is fired at a much higher temperature, making it denser, harder, and highly water-resistant. Porcelain is ideal for high-traffic floors, showers, and exterior applications. Ceramic is slightly softer and more porous, making it a great, cost-effective choice for walls and backsplashes where heavy impact is not a concern.
The most common causes of cracked tiles and crumbling grout are uneven subfloors and natural house movement. Before setting any tile, we rigorously assess the foundation. We use advanced self-leveling compounds to correct dips and install premium uncoupling membranes (like Schluter-Ditra) over wood subfloors to prevent movement from transferring into the tile.
It depends on the type of grout used. Traditional cement-based grout is porous and must be sealed to prevent staining and moisture absorption. However, we frequently use advanced epoxy or high-performance urethane grouts that are inherently stain-resistant and waterproof, requiring no additional sealing. We will guide you on the best option for your specific project.
We recommend waiting at least 48 to 72 hours after the final grouting and sealing process before using your new shower. This allows the setting materials and grout to fully cure. Exposing the installation to water too early can weaken the grout and compromise the waterproofing system.
We recommend allowing us to handle the material ordering. When we supply the tile and setting materials, we ensure that the correct quantities are ordered (including overage for cuts and waste), that the materials are appropriate for the specific application, and that everything is covered under our comprehensive system warranty.
The CTI designation, awarded by the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF), is the only third-party assessment of installer skill and knowledge recognized by the tile industry. As CTI #1707, Jason has passed rigorous written and hands-on testing, proving his ability to execute installations that meet or exceed national ANSI standards.
